General Recommendations

What are the general recommendations for practicing Yoga?

First of all, we welcome you and thank you for your preference! Here are some general recommendations so you can make the best of your lessons.

First of all, if you are not yet a student of Aravinda Yoga Shala, we suggest that you mark an experimental class, so you can get to know our work and check if this is what you are looking for.

You should confirm with your doctor whether your current health condition implies some restriction in the execution of some movement or body posture and inform us of any situation.

Please try to arrive 10 minutes before class time so that you have time to change clothes calmly and receive some attention from the teacher before beginning the practice. If you arrive in advance, avoid ringing the bell so as not to interrupt other activities that may be still going on. Entry is not allowed more than 10 minutes late.

Please keep your phone switched off while you are at Aravinda Yoga Shala.

Avoid using props (eg clocks, necklaces, earrings, etc.) that may hurt you during practice, and avoid using intense perfumes that may be bothersome to you and others (remember that in Yoga we breathe deeply and thus get very sensitive to smell).

For the sake of hygiene, it is advisable for each practitioner to use his or her own rug, but not possible, you can use the studio mats. Please bring a towel if you tend to perspire a lot.

Wear lightweight and comfortable clothing for easy body movements. The practice provides an increase in body temperature, so clothing should be fresh. Only in winter can you feel the need to wear some extra warm clothing during the final relaxation.

You do not need any shoes or socks. Practice barefoot yoga to have a good grip and contact with the ground.

Everyone should come on an empty stomach for classes (2-3 hours after light meals / 3-4 hours after heavy meals). Therefore, it is not advisable to drink water immediately before or during practice.

Strive without forcing! Follow the guidance of the teacher and your own intuition, avoiding the limits of what is comfortable and safe for you.

Yoga stimulates greater introspection and inner tranquility. We ask you to respect this general state of serenity while you are at Aravinda Yoga Shala!
